Showing Christian movie in Sakalava dialect
at Ampasipitily
As usual Shalom team send christian movie if they have opportunity to do that. It is effective in countryside since the villagers at that place do not have enough entertainment. And that is one of Shalom public approaches for sharing the Gospel. We like it.

Students learning

We are drawing to a close on the second group of students at the Shalom Center. Three months with teaching about Islamic faith, the history of Islam,  Jesus in the Bible and in the Koran, how to share the gospel with muslims++ is giving them new insight both into their own faith and to the faith of their muslim neigbours and friends. We are very happy to see the Center developing and being used.

Wonderful holy week

Last holy week of Easter, six missionaries spent three days at Baly where Shalom is doing part of its works: Education and Evangelization. Those six missionaries are composed by four Norwegian volunteers and two Shalom workers. They had three main works at Baly: for those Norwegians it was visiting site of Shalom to get more information; for those two Shalom worker it was Church building preparation; and as Evangelization staff, all of the visitors joined the evangelist and the Church member at Baly celebrating the holy week of Easter.
All teams were satisfied since they could reach their goal: the volunteers could get new information from Shalom works; they local communities are ready for their local participation as ten percent of the Church building cost; and the Church members got spiritual support from the visitors. That is the Wonderful holy week

... and Jesus bowed down and washed his disciple's feet

There is a beautiful tradition in the Lutheran Church, wednesday in the easter week the shepherds in the church bow down as Jesus did and wash the feet of the believers before the church service.

Washing of feet carries another dimention on this side of the world than in the west. The dust and the heat of the day make the feet so dirty, so the cool clean water in the basin becomes refreshing for the whole body. Beautiful! - maybe not so different from what the disciples experienced.

Breaking the silence

It has been silent for a long time on this small spot on the world wide web. We are very sorry about that. As we now break the silence, it is in English, and with that a new era in the Shalom blogg has begun. We have long wanted to allow a broader audience to follow us, and different staff in Shalom to contribute. Today is the day. We hope that our faithful norwegian readers will adapt to the change with no major problems.

Thank you for following and praying for Shalom, and may the glimses in the time ahead be of inspiration to continue doing so.
